hhmagAnyone ever try...
A ghost ring rear sight on a double? I love the ghost ring on my 500Jeff, and was thinking of trying one on my 475#2. Sometimes I lose the bead behind the blade, and I rarely shoot more than 75yds with the double anyway. I have two leafs that I have never had time to flip up, and the gun is regulated to 75 with my load.
Looking for opinions or a solid why not.

AzGuyhhmag,
I have never tried it but would like to. I think it would be a very fast and functionable setup.
Give it a try and let us know (pictures required) how it works.

PWN375A few years ago I purchased a Pedersoli 45-70 and converted it to 450 NE #2. It had a slightly modified Ashley Outdoors ghost ring sight on it. It was very accurate and very fast. I used it to kill a coyote at about 75 yards and a jack rabbit at more than 100 yards when it was still a 45-70 and used it as a 450 NE to kill a running wildebeeste at 40 yards and giraffe at about 110 yards. The PH I sold it to is still using it to back clients on dangerous game. I think it is the best sighting system for large bore double.

I would have to concur, as the large aperture rear is the fastest possible iron sight setup.....

surestrikeAshley Emerson of Ashley Outdoors designed and produced several Ghost Ring set ups for the Kreighoff Doubles.
XS has since taken over and I doubt they've continued with it. But it was a really neat set up from what I've heard.
