CRUSHERsmoth bore double for follow up gun
I have in mind a smoth bore double with mechanical or double triggers.
20 in bbl 1oz load at 1400fps+
probably a bri air stabilize sabbot or homeade penitrator sabbot.
this to be an extra bbl for my shotgun what do you fellas think.
might make cases like the 12ga from hell

500grainsFor follow-up on raccoons it ought to work out fine. But it is no DGR.

Yes, it sounds more along the lines of a 'Paradox' gun, than a DGR. While a paradox is a useful walking around gun, for those days when you hunt for the pot but need to have the capacity to accurately fire a slug, by no stretch of the imagination is it a DGR.
JMHO.
Cheers, Dave.

CRUSHERI use a shotgun now for a folowup gun and it seems just fine but the stars are against me getting my benelli into zim any time soon so wondering about a o/u instead. The slug gun I use now will put five 1 oz sabott slugs in a 6 in circle at 100 yards they are very hard and moving something like 1600 fps. it ant pretty but it works on more than coons I promise you that. this may not be the right place to ask this question. thanks for your help.

You use the shotgun now to follow up what?
A hard slug traveling a 1600 fps....WOW!

This is probaly not the place to ask a question you don't want the answer to! It seems you want folks to tell you what you want to hear, rather than the truth! If that is the case, then you should ask the question on a deer hunter's forum, where 45-70 is a real DG cartridge, and shotguns will knock down a house, like in the movies!

tiggertateThe gun you are describing is fairly common in Europe and I believe one or more of the Italian makers sell them here. It is a simply a side by side 12 ga with a set of iron sights from the factory and open choked. Usual load is buck and ball. Should work with slugs just fine. I saw one for sale a while back on GunsAmerica for around $1200 used.
If you ask this on the European forum you might get better information. That said, it may be hard to get an African PH to let you use it for DG. Should be fine for plains game. Pefect for hogs, bear or such.
"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

N E 450 No2A while back I saw a side by side 12 ga shotgun that a PH was having customized for leopard follow up. The SGN had an SKS bayonet welded to the rib between the bbls.
The theory was if a leopard got past both barrels, the spike bayonet might keep the cat off the PH.

Sabatti for example.

N E 450 No2I have handled a couple of the Sabatti Leopard guns. They are pretty slick.
The only thing I do not like about them is the silver reciever, I prefer color case, or even blue.
