BigFiveJackIs There A Good Reason NOT To...
Is there a good reason NOT to use a LEE CLASSIC TURRET Press,
or a LEE CLASSIC CAST single stage press, [both shown here]
http://www.factorysales.com/ht...catalog/classic.htmlfor 450/400 3-1/4 NE? I'll have RCBS full length sizer die and
RCBS bullet seating die. It just looks like these presses are SO
clearly less costly than every competitor brand I've seen. I'm not
saying LEE does "EVERYTHING" as well as every other brand in
the game, it just appears to my unskilled eyes that these two
presses can do the job even on 50 BMG reloading. I would like
to learn bullet swagging [spelling?] as I go on, could these
presses handle that? How about hublel 458's new .499 caliber
design using the 4
50 #2 brass? Can I load THAT one on these
presses? Thanks guys!

huskyHi Jack!
I use LEE CLASSIC CAST single stage press for my .505 Gibbs AND I will use it for my .450/.400 3 1/4" N.E when i got all bits and pieces togheter like reloading dies.
The press is very robust, and for the price a bargain!

a.tinkererI use the big classic cast press for 450#2 brass, no problems at all.
It's a really nice press, very slick/solid/sensitive.

HonkeyI have always bought RCBS just becaus that is what I started with..
2 years ago I bought a 7mm 08 single shot TC rifle and the guy threw in Lee dies for 7mm 08.
I see nothing wrong with the dies.
Stubborn as I am all my new die purchaces are RCBS, maybe I am OCD, or maybe I like green just because I am Irish??? Maybe I like the square little box that RCBS dies come is so they stack nice on my shelves??
Bottom Line, INMHO Lee dies are fine...

a.tinkererNo worries Jack.
It's a great press.
I've done everything from .32acp to 20bore rifle with custom dies -- and the .450No2 -- including the priming operation for the tiny pistol cartridges - it's that slick and sensitive.
Cheers

bobcI've used the classic turret press for loading the 450-400. Works without a hitch. I saw no change in accuracy moving from a conventional press to the turret. Being able to change turret inserts between calibers is very convenient. Bob
