Has anyone tried the 90/750 load in any .577?
Since it is in the barrels longer at 1800fps,
i guess it would shoot more apart than the
90/650. or 100/750 loads.

I'm trying to understand what you are asking.

Are you asking if we have fired a equivelent of 90 grains cordite for a 750 grain bullet in a .577 for a rifle that was regulated for something else?

If so, what rifle are we shooting it in? In a rifle that was proofed and regulated for 100 grains cordite for a 750 grain bullet?

I shoot 125 grains of RL-15, behind a 750 grain bullet for the best results, and that is exactly what the rifle was regulated with.

The 90/750 load was available from both
Kynoch and Eley in both 2 3/4" and 3".
Few guns were regulated for that load,
although Drake has a H&H on his page so
regulated. My question was has anyone
tried the 90/750 load regardless of what
the gun is regulated for. Thanks

Doc52 How did it feel and how did it group?
Was the Searcy a 100/750 gun and what was
the weight? Thanks

577NE:

Doc's my dad and the gun we are talking about is our .577 3" NE by Searcy. It was regulated for the full load round (125 grains of RL 15 behind a 750 grain bullet); the gun weighs 13 lbs, 6 oz empty.

I have not shot the reduced loads out of the gun, but I believe the old man has.

Here are some photos of it:

577nitro express: Mercy, what a beaut! I think
I remember seeing pics of that gun as it was
being built. I'd bet you are both mighty happy
with it. I have a 90/650 Hollis, and I was
interested in the 90/750 load because it was
loaded by Kynoch, and might be a little better
because of the SD. The velocity is of course
lower at 1800fps, so maybe its 6 of one, half a
dozen of the other. I was just trying to see if
anyone had any experience. I've booked an ele hunt for March, and want to take the .577, assuming I can even clear Ohare with anything over .500. If your pop could say how it performed, I'd be grateful. Beautiful gun, and
thanks.
