The action has a generous size compared to a modern V-C in .450 NE...and it has sideclips (albeit small..).

Can this be done..? The .577 has even lower pressure than the .475..

What worries me most is the stock....100 years old or thereabouts..perhaps not beefy enough to take the extra recoil..?

I would leave well enough alone and stick with the .475. Far more practical . . . and enjoyable.

As a .577 Nitro-for-Black would be fine but for a full powered .577Nitro I think the backthrust is far greater than a smallframed medium bore can withstand.

Take a chance Cool

Lower pressure, yes, but I would be concerned about the recoil in a light rifle.

back thrust, generated by pressure is not an absolute. It is dependent on the case head diameter. Measure the case head diameter difference. You are going up an awful lot based on that.
