375H&H O/U at Hallowells
Nice looking O/U at Hallowells. I am not familiar with the make, but it sure is a pretty gun. Anyone familiar with the maker?

Jeff WemmerBrovonik makes excellent rifles....They're a bit too "Germanic" for my tastes, but that does not take away from the fact that the quality will be of the first order as well as the accuracy.

Jeff, what is the action that these are built on?

JudgeGJust the slightest bit "over-the-top" for me, but I doubt you could reproduce that rifle for double the costs. That's LOTS of engraving!

tomo577they are usually built on a ferlach action.
just goes to show that the o/u rifle will not sell as well as a side x side.
probably cost $30 - $35 k to duplicate today.
the prior owners sure liked having their name on the rifle. i saw 3 different names...... wonder if there are any on the top rib ??

Those names all over the rifle is why it is so cheap! One should never put his name on a rifle, if he ever intends selling it! That rifle should sell for atleast $2K more, if it didn't have those names on it.
The only names that should be on any rifle is the maker, and the engraver! Still I'd like to have that rifle, sans;the names!

Could something be done to remove/inlay over/engrave over the names?

Hmmm. 400NE is that (3 piece forend) for aesthetic or engineering reasons?
Peter.

Just the way the Germans/Austrians do O/U fore-ends. I have no idea why.

Paolo9,5x73Must have been ordered by someone relatively high in Italian crime family.
Excellent barrel steel and scope-mount combo, but the rest would have to go!

Well, perhaps with safari outfit by Versace and a paisley ascot with smudge of pink,.....

vigillinusNicely low mounted scope, but would not trust a belted magnum in a DGR double rifle.

Just the way the Germans/Austrians do O/U fore-ends. I have no idea why.
The reason is it is much easier to do the fitting of the fore-end iron, with it's attendant springs, and latches, and ejector hammers, with the sides open. then the side penals, fitted so they are removable for access to the system for care, repaire or adjustment. Personally I think it is a damn good idea, and a very solid way of makeing them!

AglifterI agree, it seems like a very nice gun -- as for the names -- maybe remove the gold inlay, and have it replaced w. some kind of other inlay pattern? Given that it was made in 1958, my guess is the owner didn't mean for it to ever be sold.

Bill CooleyTo get rid of the names you could cut them out inlay a strip of white gold with your name or one of your favorite sayings in yellow gold.
Well it's a thought.

tomo577an engraver told me it is $40.00 per linear inch for a fine gold line.....
putting in enough gold to cover all that lettering would be a bit pricey , don't you know.
might just be easier and lots cheaper to change you and your wife and kids name to match the rifle !!
