Bullet pullers
Wondering what you guys are using for your 450, 470 NE. I would like to save the bullets.
Many Thanks

470EvansI use the RCBS collett puller that fits in your press.

sroseMidway used to sell an 8 second kinetic puller made by Frankford Arsenal that worked perfect for these big long shells. Mine broke and when I ordered another they sent the old style puller that is too small. I guess they discontinued the Frankford one. They do not list it anymore. It had a curved handle on it if you can find one.

Tim CarneyHave used the kinetic (plastic -- looks like a pale green hammer) puller. But, you leave the three-part metal piece through which you insert smaller cartridges out. Turns out the big nitroexpress rims fit on the plastic edge and you just screw the back part down onto it. Works for 500/450 and, I believe, 470. Not sure about 500 NE, 'tho.

MartyRCBS collet puller is da bomb.

sroseThe collet pullers do work great but you have to have a collet for every caliber.

CCMDocI use a pair of Vise-Grips and my reloading press.

.620 and .585 bullets are cheap compared with brass and I haven't found either kinetic or collet puller that will work with cartridges that handle those calibers.

Bob NisbetI made my own version of an impact puller to use for 3 or 4 single cartridges.
Had a few reloads I got from another shooter and wanted to check powder charge weight.

Thanks guys! I have the pale green (I think RCBS) kinetic puller. I had not thought of trying it with out the part that holds rimless cartridges. I will give that a go, then may just order the collet puller.
Many Thanks

MartyThe kinetic pullers are fine if you only need to pull a few. If you have ever needed to disassemble a batch (mistakes happen) you will wish you were using a collet puller.

Works every time.

Get a piece of hardwood board drilled with hole large big enough to fit the case through with the rim on the other side. Smack against a piece of firewood.

I do the same. BTW it works for both the .470 and the .500 NE's

And those bullets with vise grip jaw marks still shoot fine; I have done it. But I usually use the plastic hammer type with the collet removed and a nickel on top to keep the round from bouncing out.
Up to .450 only, though.
