Mr. Hollis still works.

Once I found the blood trail, this piggie was fairly easy to track. Will be sausage, ground pork, backstrap, and French bacon (pork belly on smoker). 300 grain wide nose cast at @ 1500 fps. Bob

Nice shot!
How about some details of the rifle?
I have a Hollis and in the past owned two others. They take a back seat to no other UK maker in the vintage years.

Here is Hollis 450-400, built 1908 I think. Beautiful refinish by Dustin Mounts, extremely accurate with Hornady DGX and RL-15 and versatile with 300 grain loads and 5744 for reduced (pig & deer) loads. I was fortunate to find an original Hollis catalog that you see in picture.

Now that's a rifle! But, Playboy didn't get famous for posting one small pic of a beautiful girl. Don't tease us--a nice photo spread of a beautiful rifle gets us going.

Look to my thread on mid winter toys and see my Hollis .577. Hollis was an under-rated maker. Both of us have fine rifles and, hopefully someday, there will be a book on Hollis rifles as well as other makers whose work is equal to the better known (but not better) makers.
Let's see more pics!!

The research I have seen shows that Hollis and other "Houses" were supplied in large part by Harry Leonard of Birmingham. The reason the Hollis' that Bob and I own look like W.J. Jeffery's of the same period is that they were all made by Leonard.

While Bob and I and others were doing research we found that the rifles were delivered as finished rifles to the "Boutique" Houses. The Leonard reference number stamped on the under rib near the barrel loop can be found stamped inside the action as well as on the wood for the forearm and stock.

A look at the Jeffery Day book quickly show an example of the number of rifles built by Leonard for Jeffery.

As we have all seen Leonard made some beautiful, durable rifle!
