If you decide to go low rent and use a Dominion, let me know.

Thanks Mike, although the Dominion model is a first rate rifle in my opinion, I do have a specific need for a Royal.

BOY! So do I!!

There was a fantastic early one sold by German Diethel a few years back. Had the flat side action but cased and excellent.
They may have a file photo of it.

Are you wanting a photo to show where
stuff goes in the case ?

ie

The Layout ?

Also, does it have to be a 500/465 or can it be a 500/450 or a 470 ?

Send me a PM if needed, I might be able
to ask a couple of people if they have a photo.

I've got one if I can find it. What quality of photo are you wanting? It's not professional

I am doing an article on the .500/.465 Nitro Express and wanted to include a picture of a cased H&H Royal as it is quintessential .465.

I would think that if you called George Caswell he could provide a few from his archives.

Closest I can come, 465H&H, would be a hi-res jpeg (or a mailed tiff) of a 1904-made H&H 500.450. Not hand detachable and not with reinforced action. Might be a pix in DGJ Vol IV No. 1.

Are you including in your article that a fair number of 500/450's were rebarrelled to 465
from 450 after the ban on 450's ?

Also, have you worked out an exact date that Holland went to the Bolstered action for 375 Fl and above ?

A mate has a Royal that was rebarrelled from 450 to 465 and has no bolsters.

505,

I knew that some of the .500/.450's were rebarreled to mostly .465 or .470 caliber but I don't know how many. Those that were will usually still be engraved for the original caliber un the bottom of the action but I have never handled one. I also know that it was quite common for various manufacturers to rebarrel to a different caliber when for one reason or another (worn out barrels or damaged barrels) that a customer wanted a change.

I don't know when bolstered actions were added. Looking through the old catalogues may help to determine that.

Well, here's the 500/450. A photo of the rifle in case is in DGJ Vol XIV No. 1.
