That is a very nice rifle, and is in fine shape for it’s age and trips to Africa. Because of the ejector/extractor selector switch I assume it is an older one, unless they offer it now as an add-on! It seems it has always been reliable, and may be so for the future as well. For me it would take a trip to JJ for a re-chambering to 450NE!

Mac, 100% agree. That's why I planted the thought of a conversion. JPK (haven't heard from him for awile, hope all is well..) and "others" believe that a non rimmed cartridge is OK in a dangerous game DR rifle. You, George and I are on the same page. If I keep it, it will go to JJ.

The Heym is a very nice rifle, and it seems there has never been a problem with it! JPK has had zero trouble with his 458WM double rifle, and based on that he believes in the rifle enough to take the chance. A quality rifle like his and your Heym are far less likely to have a problem than cheaper rifles, and a few of more expensive doubles as well. The guy who buys this rifle may use it for fifty years without a single problem. Heyms are not junk, and are as good as anything you can buy for the price and better than some that are more expensive.

If I weren’t already over loaded with big bore rifles I might be looking at this one as well, but as I said if I bought it I would drive it up to JJ’s shop for a re-chamber and extractor mod! I’m sue it will work perfectly but I simply like the 450NE better than the 458WM in a double rifle, so would modify it! That change would make it far easier to re-sale for a higher price as well.
