watchmanI used 67 gr. of H-4198 powder, 585 gr. hard cast lead bullet, 13 gr. of dacron filler ,fed. 215 primer, Jameson brass, MV 1650 fps KO factor of 76. First shot a buffalo broadside went completely through buff lungs and found under skin on other side about 70 caliber. Other two recovered at about 70 caliber. Buf went about 20 yds. then expired. Double tapped the buffalo with first two shots!!

MacD37 Watchman congratulations of your hunt, and some nice animals for sure! That is a beautiful old rifle. Is it fluid steel, or damaskus? I have a rifle that looks exactly like that one, chambered for a black powder cartridge called 58 Berdan Carbine. It isn't an H&H but it is a very nice rifle, and fun to shoot, and hunt with! I've thought several times about taking mine to Africa to collect a few plains game with it, but haven't yet! Again, nice trophies, and a beautiful rifle! Congratulations!

Idaho Sharpshooterwhat a marvelous old DG rifle. Craftsmanship like we will never see again...sadly so.
Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
I had always wondered where you went after leaving MASH, Col. Potter.

These are great pic's! What a fine safari.
Now, have you ever heard that people who live
together for a long time begin to resemble one
another? In the shot that includes the buffalo,
the lady and the gentleman [who I assume are
husband and wife for decades] absolutely sub-
stantiate the aforementioned concept!

GeoffM24Did anyone else notice the expression on the guys face just to the right of Watchman in the first pic? He has this look that says "he shot this Zebra with that thing?!"
