We don't see a lot of medium bore doubles here, but I thought this one was nicely done and you guys would appreciate it.
25" barrels, 7lb 10oz w/out scope, 9lb with.

Bailey BradshawWonderfull piece of wood!
With as many hogs as we have in Texas, these medium doubles would really come in handy

AkshooterThanks for the pics. I fell in love with my friends 7x65 Merkel double rifle. This Heym brings that to a new level. Still as little and sleek and sexy as it is I find it hard to justify buying one because this is what I get from my 8x57 double.
Keep tempting me though you'll probably break me.

450/400I was lucky enough to see and more importantly handle this little beauty the other day. WOW! This has to be one of the nicest doubles I've ever held, irrespective of price. The finish is fantastic and there is just something really speacial about the proportions that make this rifle stand out and above the rest.
05 August 2009, 01:36
ChopperGuyThat is VERY nice.
Bad timing as I have a REAL itch for a small bore double right now.
Thought I'd like a 6.5x57R (since I already shoot this caliber and love it), 250 Savage or 5.6x52R in a small handy double with a scoped option.
There goes the gun fund!
Now for the search.

450/400This thing is petite. Chris, you need to add some more photos with something for reference in there...like a quarter!
Oh, and one more thing, that splinter forend is off the charts!
05 August 2009, 06:30
NitrodaveVery nice! The scope looks huge on it, but thats a bad ass stick of wood!

ShinzoI have a friend with a Heym in 7x57R. Unfortunately for him, between ordering it & its delivery his eyesight talk a sudden turn for the worse & he was unable to check its sighting properly. That duty fell to me, not a great burden.

A totally sweet rifle, which unfortunately I haven't a prayer of being able to afford it if it became available.

Unfortunately not... I was giong to take it, but I didn't have any ammo loaded. Shot the pig with a 7x57.

470drshooterI have that same scope on my 375 H&H. I love the scope. Would love to put that on a mid=bore double. How's the scope and gun work together?, seems like a perfect combo.

JonPLooks like a Heym Model 55 with upgraded wood (Luxus?)...doesn't get much better. That 7 x 65R will bag anything in North America except maybe the big bears. A near '06 equivalent with about 30% less recoil....shoots very comfortably and sighted at 200yds, is a hold on for +/- 2 inches out to 246 yards....should do the trick

N E 450 No2I KNOW if I had a 7x65R Heym, that looked like THAT, and shot like THAT it would not be for sale, ever....
I would be buried with it... Just like King Tut.

After we dug you up to get the rifle back I bet the stink would come off after a few range sessions

PeterKing Tut had a double rifle? I did not see it in the museum. The damn grave robbers must have stolen it.

If it keeps up this sort of behavior, it may not be for sale.

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! All of those are 42gr of H414 with a 175 partition at 2400. I still want to tinker with the load a little more.
It was regulated with 170 Norma Vulcans, and it shoots those equally as well (with a 1" L-R spread). The velocity on those is 2500.
The 175 partitions may benefit from a little more velocity (I need a place to shoot it at 200yds), but I'm out of time... gotta go shoot some deer and pigs soon!

I'd happily put a season in there behind the stock wood of that 7mm rifle.
Y'know, happy to put the Tinker in your tinkering to help make double damn sure that nice little rifle's sorted out and solid!
cheers

Your offer is as about as dangerous as Tony's... when I got the rifle back from you two it would definitely be sorted out... and there would be no rifling left in the barrels.

With all this talk about OSR and some rumbling about a *
need for a donor rifle* in other quarters, I regret to say you're likely well to reserve your generosity on this one.
For the record, I'd much rather contribute to efforts leading to wearing the damn thing out than the alternative!
(better to see just a little rifling left in the bores than a little on the outside)
Cheers
Tinker
