Rear sight dovetail size Sabatti 45-70
G'day All,
As the title suggests does any body happen to know the size of the dovetail for the rear sights. I have the Classic Safari model with the red/green fibre sights and have worked up a sweet regulation load and wish to install an adjustable rear sight and modify the front. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jerry

Oz: Nice gun. I handled one about 10 days ago and it felt like a bird gun. I'd love to have handled one in 9,3 X 74R but the store didn't have one. How does yours shoot?

G'day Bill,
I love mine to bits and you are spot on as it points and shoots very well. The factory target shows shots about 1 inch appart and about 1 inch north west of the bull. This is fine if all I use are the factory rounds but I love reloading and want to shoot mainly 405's. I have loaded some 405gr casts in front of ADI 2208 powder and now the shots nearly touch @ 50m but shoot about 3 inches low. My loads with 300gr jacketed shoot about 1 inch appart but are about 3 inches NW of the bull. Hence my want for a replacement, adjustable rear sight. Thankfully my barrels have not had the dremel regulation.

Jerry: A ghost ring rear sight would be very fast, if you can find one that fits, or have one fitted. With good, tough bullets that regulate, I'll bet your Sabatti would be up to the task versus a water buffalo.

G'day Bill, That is another option I will have a look at, after reading this forum it sounds like a good idea and I use them on both my lever guns. My local gunsmith is switched on so I will have a yarn to him.
I am heading up to the Northern Teritory for four weeks in September and buff will be my main target so will hopefully get some Woodleigh's regulated and tested before leaving and have every confidence of their performance on buff.

Here is an excellent option for your rifle.
Others here have reported good success and good quality. Your rifle is already drilled and tapped for the 6/48 threads.
