GeoffM24First range report with my new 9.3 Chapuis
So I finally got out to the range today. Now let me start off by saying that not only is this the first time I have shot this double, it is the first time I have shot ANY double.
The gun is a bone stock Chapuis 9.3x74R UGEX with ejectors. While I have a scope mount this is with iron sights as I wanted to try her out first as is.
The target was 50 meters away. I was shooting standing offhand while leaning my left forearm on a pole for support.
My first two shots were with 285 grain Norma Alaska factory ammo. The two shots were about 2.65" apart.

Next I switched to my loads, RWS brass, Woodleigh softs 286 gr and 51 grains of varget on Federal primers. All I can say is

the two shots are 3/4" apart

Beginners luck I figured so I shot two more of my loads. Then I shot these two shots that touching and are 1/4" apart!

I then proceded to shoot another two shots 3/4" of an inch apart.
Needless to say I'm more then impressed, these are the best iron sighted shots I have ever put together.
There was one other guy at the range shooting a .223 tactical bolt and a 10/22 and he told me to feel free to shoot the empty propane can he had stuck two targets on. I thanked him and took aim and proceded to knock it into the air and send it rolling down the hill. He said, "what is that a 30-06!". It told him what it was and showed him a round and his draw dropped at it's size.
Who said double rifles aren't accurate!
Another happy camper. Congrats.
Looks like you are home free.
Way to go Geoff!!
Believe me, I'm am glad as you are.
