Use Enough GunALL of my guns in my five gun safes are in gun socks (Sack Ups). They are silicon impregnated and they keep the safe queen marks from happening for the most part, as well as the moisture away. In addition, I have a box of silica desiccant in each gun safe as well. I live in Las Vegas. As you know, humidity levels in Arizona and Southern Nevada are quite low.

cal pappasI keep one of those electric rods in each safe. It's pretty dry as I heat with a wood stove that is in the basement near the gun room.

dpcdYou guys realize that they invented the dehumidifier last year. I mean last century.
Yes I use Gun Socks; not sure if they are made any more but that was the trade name.

Use Enough GunSince I live in Las Vegas, I don't have the need for the electric rod dehumidifier as the humidity levels are very low. I control that with the box of silica dessicant, keeping an eye on the 'buttons' for any change in their color, just in case I need to heat up the box in the oven to bring it back to totally dry status again. And yes, they still make the Gun Socks. I always buy them in the multi-packs and then I have one handy when I purchase a new firearm. My kids have raided my packs and made off with a few of them.

For those who live in a higher humidity environment like Alaska, Washington etc. etc, it might make sense to have the electric rod dehumidifiers.
