vegard_dinoGerman style action/locks.....
Hi all

Well, I got more questions for you all....Thanks for your time and helping me out, to understand a bit more about the many style´s of DR made.
I know the Germans made some with it own style, maybe someone else use it to...not sure.
Like the clamshell I have asked about before....Then they had the blitzer action. Kind of a trigger plate action is it?
Is it more the same as the round action?
Did they have more action/lock style´s that was only made in Germany?
Why are these style´s more or less gone today?
Hard to make? Expensive to make, so it was kind of "lost", good but to expensive?
Thanks for your time all

new_guyThe "blitz" is very similar to the Scottish round action design. Both are "trigger plate" designs, i.e.: the lockwork is attached to the trigger plate.
Here is a current German one that is made today.
Notice the wide trigger plate.

vegard_dinoHi
Thanks for the reply and help.
Yes, I can se what you mean. Thanks for the photo.
But, why is the blitz or trigger plate/ round action nor more used? Even back when it was first made?
Hard to make? No working so good as one was hoping? The last I find hard to think, knowing that the round action is well alive in Scotland.
And as you show us all, one now made in Germany to.

new_guyI don't know why they aren't more prevalent than they are. I see no inherent mechanical weakness that puts it above or below a sidelock or A&D boxlock.

vegard_dinoI understand..Can it be that they are more expensive to make? Or are they not?
Thanks for your time and information

new_guyI would say they have to be more expensive or more time-consuming. Otherwise, we would not see the typical A&D actions, as they would be more expensive to produce.
