Looks like a big Spanish 10 bore that has been sleeved to a 600.

I've seen it done a few times.

Yes, I believe it has full length lined tubes in that the barrels alone weigh 10# 3oz. which should make them safe.

Overall a pretty well done gun. Proper weight and feels good. Stock typical of English dimensions, etc.. Wish I knew who did the work. An affordable gun in a .600. I will consider trades up or down. You know how I like those Heym's!

Yes, those two questions come to mind.

to me that some respected double rifle smith

should examine it, shoot it, and so on, so

Don't know if the gun has been shot or not. What I do know is that it was inherited by a gentleman along with a very nice drilling that I wanted. He did not even know that his father owned the gun. I purchassed this gun as part of a package deal along with a very unusual drilling that I wanted. The gun came along with ten reloads, in pairs marked 143 to 147 in increments of one. I assume this to be the powder charge. Bertram brass was used. I would never shoot another's reloads (especially in these large calibres) whom I do not know. Because I won't stand behind these reloads, they will not convey with the gun unless I pull the bullets and dump the powder. Someone spent a hell of alot of money putting this gun together. Jack, I agree that the gun should be inspected by a competant gunsmith prior to shooting with anything approaching full loads. Just my opinion. Unfortunately, that's all I know about the gun.
