How would you option a Finn Classic 512?

Looks like I will be ordering a Finn Classic 512 soon and need some helpful advice. Main use of the rifle will be using the 9,3x74R barrels while big game hunting. The rifles can be ordered with either a single or double trigger for the same price. Which trigger would you recommend and why?
Will also be ordering a set of 12 gauge (3 inch) barrels at the same time. Which barrel length? The shotgun will rarely be used and combination barrels will never be used.

Good choice. I have had the Valmet 412 system for 20 years or so, in almost all the configurations. Even had the trap gun. Have had the single trigger in all of them. I have the 9.3x74R barrels and love it, 28" 12 ga. in 3". Very good combination for Africa. You hunt big game and also doves and grouse.

Also have 5 other double rifles with double triggers. Love them.

Problem is the split second adjustment in remembering which trigger system you have. I wish the Valmet had double triggers just so I didn't have to take that second thought and remember what I had.

The single trigger is just a hair faster, but probably not significant as you are recovering from the recoil during the interval.

I would go for the same trigger as my other rifles.

I like double trigger on my shotguns that's what I went with, I had to rework mine to 4 lbs.

Get the mid rib and scope mount.

All of the 412's came with single triggers just like this NIB 412 that i still have,

If wanted, a dealer or distributor could/would install DT's for you, i've installed many sets, and you can still get DT's and put them in your's...

It's a great design, and i still have many bbl sets. Many of them are still new and unfired, and some of them are custom bbls..

I've been shooting the Valmet system since about 1980, it's a good system.

Found a lead on a 412S Tikka shotgun to which I could have a set of 9,3 barrels added.
But I know nothing about the Tikka versions.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Good, bad, or indifferent

I have had them also and am just as happy with them.

Go for it. I am hoping to get lined up to change mine to double triggers as DM described.

Can any good gunsmith fit new barrels and install the double triggers or is this something you have to send off to a specialist?

I think the 412 is a Valmont not a Tika and were made by a different firm. The tika is a much nicer rifle as far as looks go. You need someone who understand the system It's got to cock and eject at just the right time, there is more than just headspace involved. In trigger work too much spring tension can makem the hard to open, and make for heavy triggers too little will make for misfire or doubleing. too shallow sear engagement is also a problem

Be carefull of too good a deal.

Check with Russ if he has the barrels and if he will fit them and what he will charge.

You will find the deal I offered you was a square deal, I am kind'a glad you did not take me up on it, I am not sure I want to sell mine.

Decided not to buy one. Not going to pay retail for a rifle like this so will wait until a nice used model goes up for sale at a reasonable price on the auction sites.

Besides, with one 9,3 double already in the safe along with a 450 NE think I should save my money for a 500 NE

for what a new tika will cost you can get a 20 ga barrel set for your chapuis, or contact Buch and see what he can do for you. Once you go sxs it hard to go o/u. I think of my tika as a nice set up to throw in the trunk when traveling just to make sure you have something if a hunt comes up.
