He has had a Heym 450 for some time now. He also has a new Rigby in 577, and someone has said that he was having Heym build him a 600; but that is the first I have heard about the 600. He actually had Heym custom make the 450, this was before it was offered as a factory chambering.

His Heym 450NE 3 1/4" was the one he had to fish out of the river. He now has a Heym Jumbo 600NE as well. I handled both the older 450NE, and the new 600NE at the DSC show in Chris's Heym booth. I would love to own the older 450NE double. The top lever is an elephant head with tusks, and there is only a thin gold inlay around chamber end of the barrels and along the flats under the barrels no other decoration, and shows years of honest wear! A beautiful old work horse. The 600NE Heym was new, and didn't seem too heavy, for a big rifle. Of course that may be a different story when one fires it. A beautifully made rifle none the less!

Yes, I got to shoulder both of them at Reno last month. A gorgeous rifle with plenty of provenance. If I ever got to order a Heym I would just ask for a .500 NE 3" "Ivan Carter" model.

Well, I will let Ivan tell y'all about his Heyms...

But, I can say that his 600 Heym shoots real good.

i have used over the last year a heym .450 3&1/4 is an 88B - shoots great very reliable and actually the barrel set was originally chambered for .458 , i had them customize it to 450 3&1/4

then i have a rigby .577 that i had used on some safaris for the last two years , its very simple , no engraving , shoots very straight ..i have iot loaded somewhat hot and at 2160 ist got some beefy recoil , tradeoff is that its phenomenal as a stopper.

i have bought a Heym .600 jumbo she was delivered after the shows and hasnt been on safari yet but is an exquisite example of what heym can do , minimal engraving , very elegant , she kicks like a mule but i am sure will be great elephant medecine.

now call me crazy but i have just ordered a heym 88b in .300 winchester mag ... why ? because i can and i love doubles and thats what i will hunt plainsgame , deer and antelope with !! it will have a scope with the holland and holland style quick release mounts - will take delivery in a few months and will be sure to post pics of my first game with it !!!

as far as pictures , i will take a few and post ...

I thought you might have said here, 375 H&H belted rimless as a "cover - all" rifle...

I currently own a HEYM 88 B/SS (sidelock!) in .300 Win Mag with claw mounts and Zeiss scope which is currently on consignment with George Caswell at Champlins. Ready to go and no wait for delivery.

I'm sure that Ivan gets a very well deserved and earned promotional consideration from Heym, but this gun may be of interest to others.

Don, I have the exact rifle in 300 Win Mag. It will be my Hyena killer in 2 weeks on a Zimbabwe hunt, after a management Ele with a Searcy 450 3 1/4. My first "all doubles" trip.

Snowolfe: My wife has recently required me to put prices on all of my firearms. She even enlisted by daughter-in-law to assist in the inventory and categorization. She said that it was due to the fact that too many of my hunting friends have contacted her requesting that they be first in line to purchase my collection. They have also informed her as to what, they think, some of my firearms are worth.

New Guy: Ivan's Zambezi miracle rifle! Ivan: I've never heard of an antelope hunter with a double rifle! Should prove to be interesting!!

Be sure the wife doesn't have a divorce up her sleeve. You may be putting the noose around your own neck when you schedule (for her) your collectables with true values. But then she will probably offer you the oppertunity to buy back her half of what you own!

Much better to have your list in a safe deposit box or along with a copy of your will. Just my experience.

I'm a lawyer (for good or bad), so I know what signs to watch for.

Besides, we've been married for 36 years, have eight kids who all like firearms, and we both know that the pasture is certainly not greener on the other side of the fence. LOL

I went a little "heavier" Ivan, with my PG double...375 Flanged Magnum. It shoots the 300's down to the 250's to the same POA when loaded properly, and with a scope in QD mounts....awesome stuff. Something magical about doubles.
Don't tell anyone, but with the 250's, I'm hunting those dangerous southern whitetail!

garby - with you all the way man - i chose the 300 win mag just simply because of ease of getting ammo and after seeing the 7mm that chris had - need i say more ..

i spend way way too much of my money on doubles guess its because i dont have to spend it on hunting

Ivan....unfortunately both doubles and DG hunting are real passions...and neither come cheap. I want to grow up to just like you!
Yes, Chris's little gun is sweet....he told me that should be my next purchase from him....I think I've already got his kid's college paid for though!!
