577neolder Searcy rifles
Some years ago Searcy made doubles on shotgun
frames. Any info on these-when, how many?
Also, I've only seen a couple for sale in the
past 15 years-where are they? Thanks

Most of them are still shooting, and most are in Africa with PHs there. Many of those made were baught new by young PHs,and taken to Africa. Many others were baught used from clients when they hunted in Africa. There is one of these that was baught by a man in California to use testing ammo. He put over 6000 rounds of 470NE through it and then sold it to his PH in Africa. That rifle is still in use today there!
They are not pretty, but are worth more today than they cost new, but still cheap! They were made on a re-hardened Browning BSS action, with a third fastener added, and most were chambered for 470NE! The early ones had single trggers, but the later ones had double triggers!

Atkinsonboth O/Us and S/S's...They worked fine, still do, but they are not the quality of the new Searcys nor do they bring the big bucks..If I ran across one at a good price I would jump on it...good hunting gun to haul around the world.
