eezridrThanks Rusty!
I picked up this Heym 88B safari with what I thought was exceptional wood. I have a very talented local gun smith that has made and modified quite a few guns for me.
The issue with German double rifles is they seldom put much work / time in stock finishing. Full of open pores.
My friend put about 40 coats of tru oil (wet sanded) and leather wrapped the decerator pad in pig skin.
Made it look like a custom stock. Picture do not do justice. It is very holographic

Great job, beautifully done. It never makes sense to me why Heym leaves their stocks so plain in the finishing department.

dirklawyerEZ,
Who's your friend-local gunsmith, great job! And if you don't mind what was the cost to have him do the work?
