Shooting the British Double Rifle - Difference in Editions?
I have the first edition, what are the changes in the second and third editions? I am looking at purchasing a double chambered for a black powder round. Is there one addition that has enough more information than the first edition to be worth purchasing?

Yes! With each edition more valuable information is added. I hope Graeme prints a 4th!

PS. I've sold 11 doubles to date and still have six to go with 2-3 being black powder doubles. What are you looking for? I have a 577-500 no2, a 12-bore and a 10-bore (the 10 may be spoken for but I can't reach the potential buyer).

I now have all three additions of his books. There is a lot of information in the last two additions from people who work for Holland & Holland, Westley Richardson and others that verify a lot of things that have been called "BIG FOOT" type of non sense.
These books have some real information coming from the mouths of the people who make the double rifles! Worth a read, especially the 2nd and third issues of this book!

Graeme Wright’s book is a great read for any double rifle enthusiast.
IMO it is literally the required “go to” for anyone shooting and loading for antique or vintage double rifles.

One hopes for either a 2nd printing of the 3rd Edition, or even better a 4th Edition.

Years ago when Graeme was at my home shooting some test loads for the third edition he didn't express any interest in a 4th edition. I hope he changes his mind.
I'm at a gun show in Anchorage and have a few copies of his 3rd edition on my table for $125. Expenisve but I can't believe the prices on ebay or Amazon.
Cheers,
Cal

I have Graeme's Third Edition and it is a wonderful read, even though I will never be able to afford a cartridge double.

Bill:
You have an invitation to the Alaska double shoot may 2. You'll have at your disposal 40-50 double rifles to play with. Also, do some fishing or sight see if you wish.

Bill I see that you now live in Alamogordo NM. I lived there back in the 1950s while working at Hollamon Air base and the Sac Peak Observatory. There is some very good Elk, Mule deer, and black bear hunting in the Sacramento mountains just above Alamogordo.

NM is a great state for hunting with millions of acres of public hunting land open to hunters.
I think you will enjoy your visit with Cal if you get up to Alaska. He is a double rifle freak just like me, and he has some real good books on double rifles worth reading as well.

Off topic! But I just noticed you now live in Alamogordo, and I miss that area and I hunted all over that state with double rifles.
