What is the Max load of 5744 you have shot with a 500 grain bullet in your modern DR ?
470 NE

I have 520 grain cast bullets and I have a Max load from Accurate of 58 grains.
I have a Max load of 62 grains from Accurate for 500 grain bullets.
Has anyone shot lead bullets in a K-gun ? What load.

I assume you are shooting a 450NE 3 1/4" and if that is the case it would be a good idea to say that when asking about a load! I don't have a load for you but if you make the cartridge clear you will get pleanty of advice here!

I am refering to max 5744 loads in the 470 3 1/4" NE round.
I have a recipe from Accurate that maxes out at 58 grains, and was wondering in anyone had ever got near that and could recount and interesting info, like felt recoil, accuracy, velocity etc.

not near max, but at 44 grs my 470's regulated quite closely with cast bullets to full power loads

I used 50 grains of 5744 behind 500 Grain Woodleighs @ 1617 FPS and behind 500 Grain NF's at 1661 FPS both in my 470 Nitro.

Brass looked good, recoil was noticeably lighter than my full power loads.

Only shot the loads at 33 feet for penetration test, so I am not sure how they regulate or how accurate they are.

I shot 55 in my 470 with 500 gr gas checked hard cast. Stiff but not full power. It would kill anything here. There was a piece on reloading cast bullets on the African hunter web sight. It listed up to 55 with a 500 gr bullet has I recall. Its no longer there.
