Mt too! Like you not now!

Many people post and find it hard to get their meaning across but are usually understood after a fashion, or if allowed to explain. Not having seen many of his posts I used to think some were just picking him apart. It has become clear to me now this guy simply has a problem that makes him blind to the real world, and in his mind justifies anything he does, and he believes anything "HE" says to be gospel.

That is too bad because he evidently has the funds and some good firearms to do some hunting in Africa! Too bad he is devoid of ability to use them well and is unable to get along with anyone.

It is amazing how much some people seem to know about double rifles one week after buying their first one. However it is far more amazing when the guy has just ordered one, and has not even received it yet but knows EVERYTHING about double rifles!

In that context, shootaway seems to be a genius on double rifles so he can declare a double to be junk when I doubt he has ever even shot one of any kind!

Two things.

I think most on here wouldn't take any notice of what Shootaway said, good or bad about a gun.

Secondly, I hope if Shootaway does "shytecan" the gun that Saeed or the mods get busy with the delete / ban button.

I loaded twenty 500NE rds today and all went well.
I used IMR 4831,Win mag primers,Hornady cases, and 570gr woodleigh FMJ and RN bullets.
The rifle should be here in about two months time.

For once that was a genuine question.

Well, even if you asked Butch to regulate your gun to XXX gns of IMR 4831, which he duly does
or he just regulates it as he always does and
has told you the load.

Firstly, he probably has a different batch of powder and primers and you do get slight variations between batches.

Secondly, and probably more importantly,
even gun is different, slight variations
in the load, the way it is held.

I would have loaded 4 rounds each across a spread of grns with 1 or 2 grns difference
in each.

You might luck it first go with yours but in
doing 4 shots of each you, you are also learning
about your new rifle and how sensitive it is to changes in powder etc.

And if you don't "luck it" first time after 4 or 6 shots, you have 14 or 16 more than you probably have to pull to change the load.

Just my HO, hope that helps.

I like how the Hornady cases grip the bullets nice and tight. The primer seating operation went smooth and the primers are seated nicely in the primer pockets.

All you need now is to find out if your load will regulate in the new double rifle. If they don't you have loaded a lot of ammo for nothing! thumbdown

With any new double rifle you need to load four rounds at a time starting low, and work up slowly till you hit the sweet spot that regulates in the rifle! tu2

Shootaway.

Personally, I wouldn't.

Concentrate on one set of ammo with the only
difference being a change in the amount of powder.

Remember, only ever change ONE thing in a load
with DR's otherwise you won't know which caused the change.

Secondly, as Mac says, find the sweet spot with one load first. Once you do this, 1. You will have learnt a bit about the gun and it's sensitivities and 2. You always have a load to go back to that you know shoots and 3. Since you know this load shoots, it gives you a starting point if you want to change something - like the bullet. You take this load, drop 10%, ad new bullet and load up 4 rounds in the usual increments, hopefully hitting the sweet spot pretty quickly.

That's my advice.

I am hoping I need to just shoot two rounds at 50 and two at 100 and then just go home.
03 December 2013, 18:53

Don't worry about 100.

Sort everything out at 50 and get it down pat first because you are also learning to shoot a new rifle as well as trying to get it to shoot accurately.

Once you have the load that is on the "sweet spot", then try it at 75 and 100 or even just 100 if you are confident.
