Remington/Russian Double Rifles
Had conversation about subject rifles couple days ago and have been hearing varying stories about deliveries, delays, not available, next month, etc., etc. Well, picked up the phone and spoke to customer information office in North Carolina, Remington Headquarters, and a lady by the name of Julie said that there were none in America and quite simply did not know when they would be brought in for sale. When I mentioned I had been told some had failed and were being returned, she responded that had happened some few years ago and those had been recalled, but also told me those particular ones had not been mfg. in Russia by Baikal, but by another firm. I believe she said EAA made these early ones. She went on to say that they would not be released until absolutely sure there were no problems with them. Told her I thought that was a good idea.
Told her that some were in Canada and she mentioned that those were mfg. by EAA and had not been returned as earlier requested????? As for official delivery date, not known at this time and as they used to say, "need to know basis." Again, go to Remington web location and there is an 800 number for them and they can verify. It would be interesting to see if everyone is told the same answer upon inquiring about these firearms. I am sure she was only being honest and telling me exactly what she knew to be the facts. She did say that others have inquired and they are well aware of the large market for such a sporting arm. Check it out.

EAA was the distributor before Remington.

Yo! Scruffy,
Not sure whether the lady is a chick or not, but EAA stands for European Arms Association and put together a conglomerate of mfg's to market not only sporting arms but other types as in LE/Mil on a world wide basis. They actually do not mfg. anything, but rather market/distribute, etc. Some sort of effort similar to the failed European Union idea involving firearms and marketing of same.
Note the date of yours is over a year ago and could well be one that EAA was "marketing" for Baikal and brought into Canada. Noticed that no markings of Remington on your Baikal Beauty. Remington's will be marked w/ Remington logo, if and when they ever show up in the States. Good luck.

EAA actually stands for Euopean American Armory. Per the catalog I have from them before Remington grabbed up the Ruskies.

Hello Brain 1
You are correct, we always referred to them as the "arms association" for the American reference is a marketing technique. Check out the other posts on double rifles and the results the fellow has who shot his a "bit." I would urge caution. Thanks
