Thomas Jefferson Quotations:
1) "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
2) "To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."

I guess the title 'Fanklin & Twain' is somewhat humorous.
Otherwise, I do not see the humor in this thread. OK, maybe Twain, but not really.
I believe one of the reasons my country is in such a mess is that we have not followed the teachings of Jefferson and Franklin.
NOT funny.

Texas Killartist (with some trepidity, given your nom de forum), I disagree.

Franklin, to the Continental Congress, prior to the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, in 1776:

"Gentlemen, we must all hang together, or we shall surely hang separately."

Twain, apropos of now and forever:

"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it."
