The owner of a golf course in Arkansas was confused about paying an invoice, so he decided to ask his secretary for some mathematical help.
He called her into his office and said, "You graduated from the Vanderbilt University, I need some help. If I were to give you $20,000, minus 14%, how much would you take off?"
The secretary thought a moment, then replied, "For $2800.00 I would be glad to take off everything but my earrings."
She is pretty stupid. Actually she should be getting $17,200.
$20,000 less 20% = $17,200

JonathonNot neccessarily as the question is how much would be taken off, not how much is left.
