rootbeerIf that is one of our boys, I certainly hope he wasn't hurt. Looks like he really got the shit kicked out of him. I hope he isn't an Iraqi soldier, either; they're on our side.
I guess this is why you always see soldiers who fire these guns standing to the side at all times. Who is training these guys??
I ain't a cannon cocker but I was a loader in a tank(Militia) and I am pretty sure that idiot was a second looie that didn't know what he was doing!

CollinsDid you notice it looks like the brass stayed in the gun during firing and was ejected via the ejector mechanism. That's a lot of side force on the case to keep it in the breach. Also, the helmets look like Japanese Defense Force (JDF)

ToolmakerIt's actually South Korean Military.
I saw this a couple of weeks ago - I betcha at the very least he has a couple of broken ribs.

DoublessToolmaker, I fail to find anything funny at all about the S&W "screen show" running at the bottom of your post. I lost a nephew to suicide. Think about having to tell your offspring their cousin shot himself, and then explain to me how there is one iota of humor in the "ad".
06 August 2005, 09:18
CollinsOK, it's tough to justify this, but I've never found any humor that was unoffensive to everyone. I've had 3 friends shoot themselves (I hope I wasn't the common thread) anyway, It's just humor and I'm sure offense wasn't intended. But, It's just presented in jest.

MarkCollins,
The comment was directed at Toolmakers sig line.
Not many people are aware that there are more suicides in the US than homicides.
for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

41 RedhawkThe comments concerning toolmaker's sig. are interesting. I took a different message from it: Something along the lines of a good hobbie helping someone through depression as it did for someone I know. The hobbie of choice in that case was hunting.

This I know I was in Artillery when I was in the army.
He is probably lucky as that wasn't a bigger howitzer than what it was.

invader66I could not tell the cal. but the old 90mm tank gun would kill you. The empty brass could knock
you out. The cases hit the steel guard at about 30 MPH when ejected if I remember right.

Hog KillerWell, after all, this is a US M1 57 m/m AT gun. What do you expect from WW II surplus, with probably no new parts for it for 40 years.
Too bad about the loader.

derfNo sense in getting your knickers in a twist over the Toolmakers tagline. I have it on good authority that this worthy gentleman has left the building!

Was he... Sad? Depressed? Did S&W help?

JarrodWhen I was on the 155mm the recoil was a lot more vicious than that little popgun. That is not much bigger than what we use to use for Change of Command etc.
In Iraq on the 105mm towed howitzer my gunner obviously wasn't thinking and tried to ride the trails on a charge 8.
Bloody his face up pretty good we called him charge 8 lip for about 2 weeks

ceweI think Finland has the next highest suicide rate in the world but we also probably have more suicide jokes than anyone else.
A fellow writer offed herself a week ago buy "diving into a plastic bag" ala Killing Fields.
When I told a friend he aswered casually: From how high did she dive?
