Taurus BillHow many waterfowlers......
...does it take to hunt teal?
Two, one to say, "Here they come!" and he other to say, "There they go!"

Personally I am very angry that my guide in the Nipissing District of Ontario some years ago saw fit to tell you what he said upon the approach of some mallards who took off and flying down a small ravine (with a brook). Those were his exact words (before and after I fired twice)
Do you have to keep bringing up old wounds?

Also I was so angry at reading your post that I forgot that you were talking about teal.
We had teal and I never shot one in my life. (We had a real brook on our property and I had permission of neighbors to hunt it for miles. I often would try and sneak up where I thought ducks (whether teal or mallards) were. It was that low take off of the teal that always caught me by surprise. I never got the shotgun up quick enough and I can tell you that I regularly shot ruffed grouse so my reflexes were fast enough - they just weren't fast enough for teal. I just wish I could have seen them coming! I always saw them going -very fast -and I guess I always fired over them! (Why the heck didn't they rise like normal birds?)
