The former French film star turned animal rights activist, Brigitte Bardot, has condemned Greenland's plans to organise polar bear hunts for wealthy tourists.
The Government in Greenland hopes that allowing tourist to hunt and shoot polar bears will help bolster the country's faltering economy, by creating jobs for local guides.
The tourists would be permitted to take home the bear skins as trophies.
Ms Bardot has written an open letter to Denmark's Queen Margrethe, who rules over Greenland, demanding she take action to quash the plans in parliament.
