Marriage is...
Marriage is...

Marriage is not a word. It is a sentence (a life sentence!).

Marriage is an institution in which a man loses his Bachelor's Degree and the woman gets her Masters.

Marriage is a thing which puts a ring on a woman's finger and two under the man's eyes.

I can't decide if I shoot to load, or load to shoot! The line between the two is very thin!

I never knew what true happiness was till I got married, but by then it was too late.

I kept trying to tell her "honey, we don't need to get married. I'm miseable already"

Marriage is an institution and love is blind but who the hell want's to live in an institution for the blind?

Marriage is not for holding a man and a woman together that like each other. It is to hold a man and woman together that hate each other's guts.
Sound like fun?
It ain't.

Where the hell were you guys before I walked into church? I'll tell you where you were. You were my best man and ushers. You threw a party for me beforehand. You drank and danced (and let me know what bridesmaids you planned to lay)and told me how lucky I was!

What none of you louses did was to warn me about what was coming! I am not impressed by what you have to say now! Too late! Smiler

Man does not worry about his future till he gets married.

Woman worries about her future till she gets married.

You never really know what a woman is like - until you divorce her!

Amen, love is fleeting, an ex-wife is forever

I guess I am not in the majority opinion on this one. Sure, we have issues, we both sacrifice to make our relationship work, but we are in love and that is the glue that holds us together.

27 years, 7 months, 3 children and one grandchild. 23 years of armed service added to the stress for certain. I now work part time to spend time at home with my bride.

Our mutual faith in God and each other (yep, we know will both fail the other at times)keeps us.

Sorry for your exeperiences.

then, he's done.

While standing in a group a friend once mention that he and his bride had 10 good years together.

Someone mentioned that he and his wife had been married over 25 years.

He looked at us and casually mentioned, "That's what I said."

I had an Italian colleague who was going to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary. I asked him what the secret to a long marriage was and how he was going to celebrate it.

He said "Ona our 25tha anniversaria, I tooka her to Italia.

Ona our 50th anniversaria, I'ma gonna go bringa her back!"

Having been involved in many many divorces I have noticed that many folks seem to forget that love is a feeling one has for another because of who they are rather than what one thinks they are supposed to do for one.

The other thing I have noticed in matters of the heart is that people tend to blame the other for their own bad feelings, forgetting completely that nobody causes anyone to feel any certain way. I have heard it time and time again. "He makes me mad" "He makes me this" "She makes me that". Wrong. Nobody makes you anything. You allow yourself to react to others and you allow your own self to feel the way you do. Its your choice, not the other person's fault.

Bottom line. If you really love somebody you will adapt as much as you need to in order to continue loving that person. And if the other person loves you they will do the same. And that is what makes a successful marriage.
