the mathematician and the engineer
A collegiate contest of whit was held and the final two contestants were post grad mathematician and engineer, respectively.

The final contest indeed a simple one.

There was a pretty girl sitting on a stool and the first one to reach her would win a kiss.

The rules were that every step they took in her direction would close the distance to her by half.

The mathematician immediately threw his arms up in the air and gave an exasperated sigh, knowing that he could never actually touch the girl.

The engineer grinned immediately thinking, "Hell, I can get close enough."

Just like the old adage:

"In theory, there is not much difference between practice and theory.

In practice, there is."
