gerry375A short history of the Scots, Welsh, Irish and English
The inhabitants of the UK and Ireland can be briefly described as follows.
First, the SCOTS - They are described as a people who keep the Sabbath - and everything else they can get their hands on. (This is a libel spread by the Irish)
Nextly the WELSH - They are a religious people who prayed on their knees - and on their neighbors. ( This is a libel spread by the English who never could beat them)
Now the IRISH _ They never knew what they wanted - but were willing to fight for it anyway.(As an Irishman,I say:" Where's the fight?")
Finally, the ENGLISH - They have always considered themselves to be self-made men. This has relieved the Almighty of a terrible responsibility. (Being a Celt with a perfectly evenhanded view of the English, I say He shouldn't have let them off so easy!)
