We don't need the Chechens for this Smiler. In Chechnya, by the way, everybody has been relatively quiet. They say, was the case in Israel, when Palestinian terrorists forgot to translate clockwork in a bomb on summer time Smiler

It's a LPG converted car and the tank ruptured.

I agree with the Dane. Had a lot of those in the oilfield in the 70s. The drillers would convert their cars, "fuel-up" at the rig, at the expense of the company, then have a leak develop, light a cigarette, all four doors get blown open, and the crew scattered about the pasture.

The worst incident I'm aware of was a driller that converted his pickup. The tank was in the truck bed. About ten minutes before the end of the tour, the driller sends his son (a roughneck) down to fill the tank. The kid is tired, lies in the bed of the truck while the tank is being filled, and that's where he died.

I assume the fuel supply for the engine also failed instantly. Otherwise stopping the car in the second or third lane from the edge of the road is not too swift mentally...and even less thoughtful is the guy jumping out of the passenger-side door into the midst of heavy traffic.

It was a "physical" explosion"and not "chemical", that is, the bottle broke, but the gas did not explode. According to reports - nobody hurt, scared. Tow rope flew beautifully. If the gas exploded - would have been completely different picture. The machine is old, may be the container for the fuel system, and may just be lucky balloon domestic gas to the country. By the way, the road near my home, this is the circular highway around Moscow.
