Ky. deputy tries to shoot his way out of cell (AP)
A Kentucky sheriff says a claustrophobic deputy has lost his job after accidentally locking himself in a jail cell and trying to shoot his way out of it. Adair County Sheriff Ralph Curry told WKYT-TV that no one was hurt when Charles Wright fired his weapon.
It happened Monday,
the first day a new $12.4 million county judicial center was open to the public after more than a year of construction.
Curry says the former deputy has claustrophobia and has agreed to pay for the damage he did to the cell.

wasbeemanPeople have the mistaken idea that because someone is a cop or standing behind the counter of a gun shop, that they are weapons experts.
Of the cops I have know, if they aren't rifle/pistol loonies like would hang out in here, they care for their weapons as little as possible, seldom shoot them, and don't know anything about guns in general.

375hnhMy ex father in law was Chief of Police in a central Iowa town for several years. Once a year he would call me up to come shoot up the excess .357 ammo that his guys were allotted for practice, but never used. Usully about a thousand rounds. My hand wouldn't recover for several days.

goldyI've been involved in astion pistol sports since 1984. I've seen three GSW's. All three were LEOs.
Conversly some of them were great shots. These were all gun people before they became LEOs.

I used to get .357 ammo from a buddy of mine who worked the presidential detail in my country - he gave me all he did not feel like shooting and it was a lot

Alberta CanuckMakes me wonder......wonder how the supposed deputy even got a gun INTO to a cell. Even 50 years ago any LEO carrying a gun anywhere into the cell area of our facility would have lost his job....whether he fired it or not.
