that old saying that divorce is "the screwing you get for the screwing you got".
I had to humbly disagree and bring him up to date. "MARRIAGE" is the screwing you get for the screwing you got!
A divorce decree is the diploma you get to prove you learned from the experience.

FlagsA marriage license is the only license you can get that does not have an expiration date. Think about it! Having been married for some time now, I'd like to see them have a 5 year limit. Every 5 years both parties have to sign to renew it. If one member refuses, the license is null and void and they go their seperate ways with no ramifications.
Honestly, how many would not sign again? I know I wouldn't. I love my wife, but I was happier as a bachelor and I sure had a lot more money to spend as I wanted and not as she wanted!
Marriage, the world's leading cause of divorce!

p dog shooterSo if a decorice degree is a dree that you have learned.
There are a lot of real stuiped people who have done 2,3 or 4 or more times.

wasbeemanThe fellow said to the gal: "We'll try it out for a while and if it's a mistake, we'll go our seperate ways." To which the gal replied, "Who keeps the mistake?"

It is quite possible to have learned, but not have learned it all when you first enrolled in that major. Kind of like learning to do times tables in math but not knowing how to find the square root of a number, let alone calculus and then complex variables or set theory.
Perhaps the ones with two or three divorce decrees are a bit slow learners....then again, maybe they are now at the M.Sc. or Ph.D. levels of knowledge. Quien Sabe? Yo no se...

Idaho SharpshooterSo, I got a bachelor's degree, then the master's, and now I am doing my thesis for the doctorate?
21 years in June, I think I got this thing licked...

she did help bankroll my trips to Africa, and is paying half the tab for the mancave. I think I'm going to keep this one.

Me too, Rich, but after serious contemplation I think I was just a slow learner. Have been married to this third one for 40+ years now, and I hope she's gonna keep me.... I'm too old to withstand being "broken-in" again.

I uderstand your sentiments and you make a very good point.
There is, however, at least one other license you can get that does not expire during your lifetime.
If you are a disabled veteran with a service-connected disability of 40% or more, in Oregon your car license never expires. Pay for them once and you get both plates and a registration marked "Permanent". You never have to renew them or pay for them again as long as you live. The good people of Oregon figure you paid more than money, and that is plenty! I admire and thank them for that quid pro quo.
I know that is fact...I have a set on my car right now.

GrenadierEvery day I tell my wife what a good woman she is. She is kind, is an excellent cook, wonderful mother, great lover, perfect housekeeper, and takes care of me in every way. In fact, I always remind her, she is so good that if I ever lost her it would take five or six women to replace her.

mmwtdhBigamy is defined as having one too many wives.
