How about the US took up all the Greek debt and called it quits? Or maybe you could invade Greece and then help rebuild it afterwards? Seems to be the American way.

Since you're writing this in English, not German, I assume your country might still be somewhat grateful for the "American Way" of invading France in 1944 and, among others, freeing Denmark from German occupation after they put up a rousing TWO HOURS of resistance to the German invasion.
