Norman ConquestFunny + not
I have a real situation right now. My Mother is 90, her husband had a stroke + is in a nursing home to to tune of 7K a month. She is in a panic as all their life savings are being sucked away. None of this is humorous, but here we go; I had a friend years ago that lived beyond his means + got calls from bill collectors. One day he told the guy that this is how I work it every month. I have X amount of bills + X amounts of money to pay, so I put everyone's name into the hat + pay whatever names +draw until the money is gone; + if you insist on keeping fucking with me, I'll take your name out of the hat. HA HA, but I told Mom tonight, that all those folks will just have to wait for their money;
I mean, C'mon, what are they gonna do to you at 90 years old, effect your credit?

georgeldYou got it right there Randy.
Back in '85 I had a booming route sales business. Then one day on a delivery I wrecked my back forever. It took FIVE years before Soc Sec finally sent a retro check for retro after I got the congressman on their ass. Ben Nighthorse Campbell wrote me a hand written letter himself the very next week. "Go pick up the check at the local office".
The demands got so bad I started mouthing off at them, daring them to try collecting. One day I had a threatening call from one claiming he was going to put a lien on the house. "That don't bother me a bit, I think you had better pack your sleeping bag first" "Why's that?" "because you will be standing in line a mighty long time I believe you will be number 17 for liens on the place that's not worth near half what's being demanded". He hung up. I don't recall now if he ever filed one or not.
My advice to her would be: "hang up the phone, tear up the papers and totally ignore them all"
