The Pope was coming to visit the convent near the sea in Italy. The church officials wanted to make His Holiness’ visit memorable so, as they knew the Pope liked to fish, the priest arranged for a fishing trip to the ocean.

On his first cast the Pope caught a monster of a fish. Pulling it aboard the priest said, “That’s a big son of a bitch!” As the Pope looked surprised, the priest said nervously, “That’s the name of the fish, a son of a bitch.”

Back to the convent the Pope was treated to a marvelous fish dinner with all the trimmings. Over a glass of wine the priest congratulated the Pope on catching such a big son of a bitch.

Not to give the priest all the glory, one of the alter boys said, “I cleaned the son of a bitch.”
And to share the glory, the Mother Superior said, “And I cooked the son of a bitch.”

The Pope looked at all three of them, leaned back in his chair as he took a sip of wine, then lit a cigar, smiled and said, “You fuckers are all right.”
