The CIA is interviewing three final candidates for a position that is classified but might require killing people. There are 2 men and a woman.

The first man is handed a loaded pistol and is told that he must go into the next room where his wife is tied to a chair -and to kill her.
The male candidate is shocked -and says he absolutely refuses to do so.

The CIA officer points out that he just won't do.

The next male candidate is handed a pistol and told that his wife is tied to a chair and, etc.

The guy does go into the room but comes out in a moment and says he simply couldn't do it.

He too is "washed out" of consideration.

Finally, the third candidate, the woman, steps forward. She is handed the pistol and is told that her husband is tied to a chnair and she is to kill him. She walks into the room. The sound of repeated gunfire is heard. Then comes the sounds of wooden thumps,cries of pain -and then silence.

The woman comes out and throws down the pistol and says: " After I found out the pistol was loaded with blanks, I had to beat the SOB to death with the chair!"
