WTF?

My ex mother in law told the story that in the late 40's she saw a rat snake crawl up into the eaves of the farmhouse. There was a bunch of guys out hoeing cotton + she got one to come + see if he could get the snake out.He starts poking at it with the end of his hoe + says,I's don't hear him rattlin. She said,It's not a rattlesnake. + he says Lady,ALL snakes rattle.
