A Chinese Communist Party official was sent to negotiate.
The pirates’ leader, waving his Kalashnikov, shouted: “The ransom is TEN MILLION dollars! In cash! Or everyone on your ship will die!”
The official responded, calmly:
“Only ten million?"
"How about this."
"I'll give you twenty million, and you'll claim I paid you forty.”
