Need to come up with a name for a boat
Like the title says, I'm building an electric boat (100% solar electric) so looking for a name. What I want is a name of an electric eel of some sort and would like a local South American/African/Non-English name of some sort.

Anyone have some ideas for me?

Thanks,

Mark

Electrophorus electricus...

What do you suppose they called the electric eel before the discovery of electricity?

I'd already looked all the latin names up, but they sound too technical for a boat I'd like to use. Earliest and best name so far was found on an Egyptian slab (3100 BCE)and translates into "Angry Catfish" which is kinda funny and I'll use that if I can't find anything else, but Spanish can be quite a beautiful language and I was hoping there might be a cool sounding Hispanic name for an electric eel somewhere.

Sacudidas (means jolts) Anguilas (means eels).

If a local fisherman catches one, does he call it a "Sacudidas Anguilas" or something else then?

I did a search and found the name "Arimna" in Venezuela for the electric eel.

Mark, how about "Old Sparky"? It's the name for the electric chair in a few states.

Just a thought! Wink
