Re: Alligator Gar
I can remember growing up in Louisiana and having workers seine canals used for irrigating rice fields. They would walk on both sides of the bank with the seine between them. As they advanced the net forward the big gars would surge against the net. The men would momentarily be pulled back. The scene would be repeated until the end of the canal was reached. The final result was a wiggling mass of fish and some tired men. The gars looked like whales to a little kid. The workers would get a largest portion of the fish and my family, as the property owners would get a share.

My mother tried cooked the gar a couple of times and I thought it was good. It is amazing what you remember from your childhood.
