No sound on my computer ?
I have a Dell Dimension E520 computer that has no sound. When I purchased it there was no sound card.

So I want to make this thing have sound. I have added extra memory to it (came with only 2GB) so I have been inside it. What do I buy, and what do I do to make it have good sound.

Thanks

No sound output holes at all?
Then stick a sound card in.
Do you want surround with 5 speakers?
Then get a 5.1 card and a set of powered speakers.

Any recommendation as to a brand or model, and any recommendation for speakers.

Thanks.

It's down to budget and space, I have an LG home theater system with 3 way JBLs as main speakers
it sounds great, but not super LOUD. But the room is small so it's fine.

The sound card in the computer is just a cheap one, I need to upgrade that, so I'm looking as well.

Do you have a used computer seller locally one with dead carcasses that have been cannibalized?
They are good places to get sound cards.
If your computer is a desk top or tower there are thousands of sounds cards around for free.

I need to sort it out now as my girl got me the new remaster of Dark Side of the Moon. But nothing I have will play the 5.1 sound it's in.
So I went next door and played it on my neighbors new home Cinema and it is BRILLIANT.
Not sure if I'll uprate the computer sound cause then I'd need 5 more speakers.

ANY movie, DVD, sim game, or first person shooter sounds VERY good with these. I have the previous model with the wired rear speakers. The wireles rears should make the install MUCH easier.

That will do nicely clap

Even a smaller system is pretty good, I heard a "Logitec" one about half that power, and it was still quite impressive.

I paid 30 bucks (maybe less) for my 3-speaker set. I don't need hi-fi to hear the jet engines and prop jobs in my flightsims...
