FisherPhoto shoot
I know the odds are pretty slim, but are there any Falcon hunters in the states (Ohio) ? I would love the chance to photograph you and your bird in action. Of course you get high resolution digital pitcures for allowing me to be there with you. If you are interested just drop me an email.

meteContact your game officials , they can give you names of falconers in the state. Renaissence fairs usually have them too.

FisherThaks for the reply Mete. I would have never thought of the Renaissence fairs. I will have to start looking for them in the spring. Meanwhile, I can check with the state for information there.
Thanks again for your help.

NashcatHere's a link to a bird of prey site. I have seen this lady perform at the Renaissance Festival in Triune, TN. The festival runs every weekend in May.

DaManJim, why not shoot an e-mail off to the
Ohio Falconry Association?
I think they could hook you up!

FisherThanks Nashcat for the link. I will take a look and see what I can find out for next summer.
DaMan, I contacted them sometime ago. To be honest they were less then helpful. They kept insisting that I wanted to take the picture for resale purposes. Then kept telling me how state regulations stated I was not allowed to take these type of pictures for that reason. You would think that they would like to see these types of images to help further there sport.
Just to let anyone know that might be interested. I have no intention of selling the images. They are for my enjoyment as well as the person owning the bird of prey.
Thanks again guys for your help and the links.

OldsargeFalconry has a tendency to attract quirky, obsessive sorts. Occasionally you run into some who have the "last man into Paradise" syndrome and wallow in their own exclusiveness. That may be what you have encountered with the Ohio Falconers. Most hawkers, though, are eager to show off their birds and love to talk to anyone interested in the sport. Contact the guys at
www.northwoodsfalconry.com and see if they can put you in touch with a more hospitable group in your area.
Good luck,

FisherThank you Sarge. I will check out your link. I by no means thought that this person was a normal representative of people involved in your sport. Just one that I stumbled upon that was either having a bad day or as you put it, to involved with themselves. My experience here has been great and I appriciate all the help I have received. Thanks again everyone for lending a helping hand.

Jim, it's very possible that the Ohio Falconry "representative" thought you might use the photographs to negatively portray the sport in the media.
Their paranoia is understandable..... but sad.
