PanchoNew 264
Went into the local gunemporium this morn. Noted right away that he had several Win Mod 70's on the shelf. Hohhum - 243, 270, 30-06
What a 264. Well - some dickerin and tradin ensued and now I own another Win Mod 70 'Classic' Super Grade in 264. Another 'safe queen'? Proablbly since I'll keep on shootin and huntin with my old one but the Grandkids gotta have somethin to remember me by. Anyone got another Mod 70 in 264? I got lot's of grandkiddos.

TC1Nice snag. You know a thread like this is almost worthless without a picture. I'd love to see it. There is a lot to like about the .264WM!

mikem0553Nice find: I had to piece mine together to get what I want. Now I dearly love the 264 Win. I would like to try an original Win. in that caliber. I sure like the way the old stocks fit me. Take her out and make her pay for her keep once in awhile.

StonecreekBy all means take that gun afield and let it earn its keep!
Original .264 SAAMI specs had (inexplicably) a chamber with zero leade, forcing very deep seating of the bullet in order to miss the lands. I have no idea whether Winchester may have corrected this in later years, but if not, it would be advisable to take your new beauty to a competent gunsmith to have the leade lengthened enough to seat conventional 140 grain bullets out to at least the full length of the magazine, or 3.45", whichever is longer.
