Re: 6mm rem for whitetails
I own both calibers and both have their merits. My .243Win. is much lighter, has a shorter (22") barrel and easier to lug around. The 6mm Rem. has a 26" barrel, hits harder, but gets very heavy quickly. It's a Rem. VLS and weighs about 10.5lbs. It's actually a decent bench gun. I love its accuracy, but for toting in the field I like my little .243Win. It's a joy. Best wishes.

Congratulations to both boys on their success! I am headed to PA tomorrow to open the season on Monday. Unfortunately, my son will not be joining me, due to bronchitis. Hopefully, he will be able to hunt next weekend in Maryland. I haven't had time to work up a load for my 6mm, but did get some hornady 95 grain, which I am going to try with some imr4350 when I return from Penn's woods. Good luck the rest of the season!
