.260 Rem. load data for use in 6.5 Swede?
According to some of the articles I have
read in the last few years, the case capacity
of the .260 Remington is very similar to that
of the 6.5x55 Swede. About a grain less than
that of the Swede, depending on the manufac-
turer of the brass. Factory rounds for the
Swede are routinely underloaded, sometimes
by a considerable margin. Would it be safe
therefore to use reload data for the .260
Remington in the 6.5x55 Swede in a modern
bolt action like the Ruger M77?

Take a look at Saeed's data. These loads are
.260 Rem. +P

Hello Royce,
Case capacity for 6.5x55 is roughly 10% higher than the 260 Rem, you can expect a 3-5% gain in velocity if you use this extra capacity, otherwise if you use only the max loads for the 260 you will get from 3-5% lower velocity in your rifle.
Said another way: the max 260 loads are medium loads in the 6.5.
As always use all your caution when working up loads.
Wonderful target results with : H4895 for Sierra 107 MK and with H4831 SC for Sierra 142 MK (best 6.5 bullet ever!)
