A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him "Why do you carry a 45?" The Ranger responded, "Because they don't make a 46."

FasteelFrom my lenthy visits to Vancouver Island a few years ago now, I saw a ton of Blacktail deer, but I don't ever recall seeing one any where near as large as this fellow. Looks like a grade A specimen, nice going.
Love to see sucessful events from guys that don't just follow the status quo. FS

Ian (VA)Well the proof is in the pudding as they say, and you're holding a nice bowl of pudding right there! Having this experience, would you alter this recipie at all for the future? I've been pondering your Blue Dot loads quite a bit lately as I love shooting 100 grainers out of my .260 Low Wall as well. What would you say is the advantage of BD over something like SR4759?
BTW, congratulations on your hunt; nicely done!

seafire2The shot from in the field was finally emailed to me by my fellow hunter on the outing... met him on line, him asking for help in the local area down here, so I invited him down and took him out..
90 minutes later he filled his doe tag, and I got the buck that was after the doe...
this picture is better and shows what a nice deer he is, compared to the ones I took at home...
cheers

montdougLooks like ya wrecked some good eat'n there seafire

. Congrats my friend, couldn't a killed him any deader with a field piece. Plenty of good eat'n left.
Got a Mulie with my .44 today myself, in fact I'm dog whipped but drank to much coffee trying to stay awake driving home so there's no way I'm sleep'n. So here I am at 2:00AM admiring your beautiful Black Tail and wishing I'd stopped 3 cups before I did.
Never hunted Black Tails but sure would like to, close kin to our Mulies aren't they? His coloration seems a bit more distinctive though.
Great shoot'n pardner.

Hot CoreHey Seafire, Meant to tell you that is a unique flick of the Deer with the head up as if it is sitting in the trailer.

I like it.
How about a few more details of the Hunt?
That is a fine looking set of semi-open woods. Were you on the ground wedged in by a tree? What time of day? How long did you get to watch the Buck after he shot the Doe? Did it leave and come back?
You mentioned taking the other guy and he got a Doe. GOOD FOR YOU!!! That sure rounds out a great Hunt.
Congratulations again - to both of you.

yeah, I had lowered the deer after gutting him to take tension off of the rope.. and that looked kinda different, so I decided to take a pic or two of it... more funny than any thing..
Sent you a PM on the hunt details as it was posted more in detail on another forum.. and I don't want to be rude to our hosts here....
cheers
